Psalm 22

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me?" Psalm 22:1 KJV

God isn't there to fix all of our problems.

I know this because no one deserves to be murdered or raped, to die of cancer, to be a victim of war or oppression or poverty.

We were created for good things, and for life, but bad things happen, and we die, and God does not intervene.

This is one of the most difficult questions of belief. Why does a good God allow bad things to happen?

I only have one answer, "An enemy hath done this"(Matthew 13:28), and some day God will make all things new. He will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. (Revelation 21:4, 5).

For me, believing goodness and love will triumph in the end is an easy thing, not because I have seen the dead raised, but because the small, everyday miracles I experience show me the character of the Creator. I believe in his ability and desire to repair that which was broken.

Today, I am grateful for the miracles of being able to heal after surgery, to find companionship with animals (that little puppy face looking up at me with such love and devotion), to see a caterpillar transform into a butterfly, to feel the cool of the lake breeze after days of sweltering heat.
